By now, most of us know that professional wrestling isn’t real. The matches are scripted, and the relationships the stars have with each other are created for entertainment purposes. Sometimes true feelings blossom, and these wrestling couples found love together in real life.
Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch
Perhaps one of the most powerful couples in the wrestling business today is Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. The pair are standout performers on the roster and are deservedly two of the most popular wrestlers in the world.
Lynch has adopted ‘The Man’ persona, which has seen her love from the WWE universe reach an all-time high, while Rollins is a multiple-time WWE champion. The pair began dating in 2019 and announced their engagement to the world recently.
Alexa Bliss and Buddy Murphy
A few years ago, it seemed as though the WWE had a hot new couple on the scene. Alexa Bliss had made her way to become a superstar on the main roster, while Australian wrestler Buddy Murphy was making a name for himself.
This couple never hid their romance and shared a lot of their life, including the fact they were engaged. However, despite raising their pet pig together, Bliss and Murphy called off their engagement in 2019.
Brock Lesnar and Sable
Although he’s not really the talking kind in front of the WWE cameras, it seems that Brock Lesnar isn’t the monster he’s portrayed to be onscreen.
The intimidating wrestling star found love with former WWE star Sable, even though they belonged to different eras. Lesnar and Sable might not have had a romantic storyline together, but in real life, they were head over heels for each other. The couple married in 2006, live a rural lifestyle in Canada, and have welcomed two sons into the world.
Jimmy Uso and Naomi
Both Jimmy Uso and Naomi have been regulars on WWE for years, and they have been dating since 2010. The couple tied the knot in 2014, and on several occasions, their real-life marriage has been used in storylines.
In one wrestling story, a wrestler tried to get Uso to cheat on his wife, only for Naomi to step in and beat the woman up. Naomi has said that due to their hectic schedules, the couple has found it challenging to be as romantic as they used to be.
Diamond Dallas Page and Kimberly
During the 1990s, Diamond Dallas Page was pretty much ‘the’ guy who wrestled outside of the WWE. He was the face of the WWE’s biggest rival, the WCW, and he remains one of the most popular wrestlers in the business to this day.
During his famous run in the WCW, Page had Kimberly by his side, who was unaffectionately known back then as ‘The Diamond Doll.’ The couple was not only together for the cameras, but in real life as husband and wife until they divorced in 2005.
Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae
Before Candice even signed a contract with the WWE, she and Johnny Gargano were already a couple. LeRae joined the company in 2017, and from the moment she appeared on screen, the WWE didn’t try to hide her relationship with Gargano.
As for Gargano, well, he had an amazing run on NXT, and Candice even made her way to celebrate with Gargano in the ring on occasions. The pair are now married, but following Gargano’s transformation into the bad guy, they haven’t appeared on screen together so much.
Natalya and Tyson Kidd
Canadian wrestling sensations Natalya and Tyson Kidd met each other way back in the 2000s and began dating in 2003. They are both products of the Hart Foundation wrestling company, and they showcased everything they learned in the WWE ring for many years to come.
Kidd and Natalya have remained a couple over the years and got married in 2013. Their wedding was shown on an episode of the ‘Total Divas’ reality show. Kidd suffered a career-ending injury in 2015, but both still work for the WWE in some capacity.
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon
This pair might just be the most powerful wrestling couple in the history of the business. As a wrestler, Triple H is one of the most decorated champions in WWE history, and after retiring, he was responsible for bringing NXT to the fans.
Stephanie is the daughter of WWE chairman Vince McMahon and has a very involved role in the company. She was integral in boosting the women’s WWE wrestling scene after a career in the ring herself. We imagine in the future these guys will be running the company.
Matt Hardy and Lita
During his first run in the WWE, Matt Hardy made a name for himself as one half of the dynamic ‘Hardy Boyz’ tag team, alongside his real-life brother Jeff. Hardy also had another relationship in the WWE, and that was with fellow superstar Lita.
At the time, Lita was embroiled in a marriage story with Kane, but backstage she and Matt were getting closer and closer. Things seemed to be going great until a friend of Matt’s got in the way, and a very messy break-up followed.
Edge and Beth Phoenix
Eventually Edge and Lita stopped being a thing, and that’s when the WWE superstar moved on to another member of the roster. Edge began dating Beth Phoenix, and it seemed like this was true love for the couple.
They quickly settled down together and married in 2016. Not only have they been married for several years, but Edge and Beth also have two daughters. They also became the first married couple to enter the WWE Hall of Fame together.
Bianca Belair and Montez Ford
From the moment Bianca Belair debuted on WWE programming, it was clear that she was a star. She competed in the Mae Young, and afterward went on a hot streak where she defeated all-comers, earning her a place at the Women’s Battle Royal at Wrestlemania.
Belair married her fellow wrestler Montez Ford in 2018, and Ford can be seen wrestling on the Raw WWE brand, while Belair recently became the NXT champion. The couple appears to be happily married, despite Ford taking a year away from the WWE in 2018.
Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella
Daniel Bryan is one of the most popular WWE stars on the roster, and even having to sit out for several years due to injury didn’t stop people loving him. The charismatic wrestler teamed up with Brie Bella that has stood the test of time after they married in 2014.
With both having had successful in-ring careers, they found a new level of fame on ‘Total Divas.’ Bryan recently returned to the ring after receiving medical clearance, much to the delight of his many fans all over the world.
Zack Ryder and Chelsea Green
Zack Ryder has been in the WWE since the 2000s, but he hasn’t always had the recognition his talent deserves. It took the superstar many years to finally capture a WWE belt, but it was all worth it when he finally did.
In real life, Ryder has been dating fellow wrestler Chelsea Green since 2017, a year before Green became a WWE superstar herself. The couple got married in 2019 and balance their busy wrestling schedule with finding time for each other.
Chyna and X-Pac
These two wrestlers will be remembered fondly by anyone who followed wrestling back in the late 1990s. Chyna and X-Pac found love after they were no longer top billing in the WWE.
The couple was a part of the wrestling stable ‘D-Generation X’ that loved nothing more than wreaking havoc on the rest of the WWE roster. The couple began dating in the early 2000s and even got engaged in 2005, but ultimately decided to break things off.
Triple H and Chyna
Before Triple H was in a relationship with Stephanie McMahon, he was dating Chyna. It’s thought the pair were in a relationship for around five years during the 1990s, back when they were both making a big impression in the business.
The couple even took to the ring on numerous occasions to beat down anyone who dared challenge them. Their relationship is thought to have broken down around the same time Triple H began dating Stephanie around the turn of the millennium.
Booker T and Sharmell
One of Booker T’s most popular gimmicks was when he dubbed himself ‘King Booker.’ The wrestler donned a crown and regal robe in 2006, while he was flanked by his ‘Queen,’ Sharmell. The pair played the onscreen monarchs of the wrestling business, but in reality, they had been a couple since 2000.
In a not-so-romantic proposal, Booker asked Sharmell to marry him while she was washing the dishes. They married in 2005, and their relationship was far more than just a way for them to progress as characters.
Sarah Logan and Erik Rowe
Sarah Logan began working with the WWE back in 2014 before finding a place on the NXT roster in 2016. From there, she went from strength to strength, although Logan is still waiting for her first WWE title.
She met and began a relationship with Erik Rowan several years ago, and in 2018 the couple was married. They both love the Viking lifestyle, and it’s not just an act for them as they chose to have a Viking ceremony when they tied the knot.
The Miz and Maryse
WWE fans didn’t know what they were in for when the company brought reality TV star The Miz to their roster. As it turned out, The Miz was an exceptional wrestler with charisma in bucketloads.
That charisma helped him to charm one of the WWE’s biggest female stars as he and Maryse became an item backstage. Maryse took some time away from the ring, but when she was ready to return in the late 2010s, she featured alongside The Miz as a new power couple.
Aleister Black and Zelina Vega
Although Zelina Vega might be more closely associated with Andrade in the WWE, her real-life husband is Aleister Black. The couple might not seem that close when they are onscreen, and for that reason, they surprised a lot of people by announcing their marriage.
Both have been promoted to the main WWE roster in recent years, but they haven’t always appeared on the same show. The couple married in 2018 after the first meeting at the WWE Performance Center, where athletes train to entertain fans in the ring.
Ricochet and Kacy Catanzaro
Two of the most athletic athletes on the WWE roster might have found love while working out in the gym. Ricochet has been a sensation since he joined the WWE roster in 2018.
The talented wrestler already had an outstanding career on the independent wrestling circuit before hitting the big time with the WWE. His partner, Kacy Catanzaro, joined the WWE in 2017 and has been working on the NXT brand ever since. It’s in NXT where this couple first met, although they have to work around their different work schedules.
Charlotte Flair and Andrade
Charlotte Flair had pressure to be great after following in her father’s footsteps by breaking into the wrestling business. Her father, Ric Flair, can be nothing but proud of Charlotte for everything she has achieved in the WWE, including multiple wrestling titles.
During her wrestling career Charlotte has worked with many talented stars, and now she finds herself in a relationship with one. Andrade is a relatively new wrestler on the WWE roster, but instead of a championship, he won the heart of Charlotte, and they have been dating since 2019.
Mia Yim and Keith Lee
A common problem for WWE superstars who enter into a relationship is schedule conflicts. They might begin their relationship while working on the same show, but with a choice of three shows to work on, they can get split up.
One couple hoping that won’t be the case is Mia Yim and Keith Lee. With both superstars enjoying success on the NXT brand, it’s only a matter of time before one or both of them are called to the main roster.
The Undertaker and Michelle McCool
The Undertaker has been in the WWE since the 1990s, and at certain times he was the most popular wrestler on the roster. Despite being over 7 ft tall, the Undertaker proved over his long career that he was more than just a ‘big guy.’
During the 2000s Michelle McCool joined the WWE roster, and she hit it off with the Undertaker backstage. While the Undertaker has never embarked on a romantic storyline, backstage he and McCool grew close and married in 2010.
Bray Wyatt and JoJo
Thanks to his new in-ring personality, it might be hard to work a relationship into the storyline for Bray Wyatt. He’s currently portraying ‘The Fiend’ on our screens, a devilish character who wears a scary mask and feels like a horror movie villain.
While he might not have a scripted relationship, behind the scenes, Wyatt is known to be dating his fellow wrestler JoJo. Wyatt was accused by his ex-wife of seeing JoJo while they were still together, but despite that, things seem to be going well between them.
Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth
When it comes to wrestling couples, there might not be a more famous pairing than the Macho Man Randy Savage and Miss Elizabeth. The pair were hugely successful during the 1980s, but people always wanted to know if their relationship was real or not.
They might have begun working as friends, but along the way, the couple found love, even getting married at a WWE Summerslam event in 1991. Things didn’t work out for them in the end, but for a time, their onscreen romance was the real thing.
Liv Morgan and Tyler Bate
Before she was dating British wrestling star Tyler Bate, Liv Morgan had a relationship with the bad boy of wrestling, Enzo Amore. After making a name for herself on the NXT brand with The Riott Squad, Morgan is going it alone and belongs to the Raw wrestling show.
Her partner in real life is said to be Tyler Bate, who remains a part of the NXT brand. The couple is thought to have been dating for a while, although they have recently been very tight-lipped about their relationship status.
Maria and Mike Kanellis
Maria Kanellis was a big women’s WWE star in the 2000s, but she left the company in 2010. Maria began to work the wrestling circuit, and she found love with Mike Bennett, who now wrestles under his wife’s name.
In 2017 Maria made a return to the WWE, this time with her husband in tow. Their wrestling relationship appears very one-sided with Maria calling all of the shots, including making Mike take her last name. In reality, they took Mike’s name when they tied the knot in 2014.
Cody and Brandi Rhodes
Although they have since distanced themselves from the WWE, if it wasn’t for that wrestling company, Cody and Brandi Rhodes might never have met.
The couple was wrestling for the WWE in 2013 when they first met, and it was love at first sight. Today they are a hugely influential wrestling couple as they pretty much run AEW together. Brandi is the chief branding officer, while Cody is the executive vice president who also likes showing off his skills in the ring.
Paige and Alberto Del Rio
For a while, WWE superstars Paige and Alberto Del Rio were two of the most influential wrestlers in the company. However, Paige’s wrestling career came to a premature end following an injury, while Del Rio left the company altogether.
While they were both competing, they were in a relationship together, but they found it almost impossible to maintain it in the end. Del Rio found himself on one side of the country in San Antonio, while Paige was in Orlando. Ultimately, Del Rio blamed the distance for ending their public relationship.
CM Punk and AJ Lee
During her wrestling career, AJ Lee was one of the most popular stars on the roster, and she found love with another superstar. CM Punk and AJ Lee became a couple in the early 2010s when they were both at the peak of their powers.
Eventually they would seek moves away from the WWE, with Lee becoming an author, while Punk tried to become a UFC star. Although they didn’t have an on-screen relationship, behind the scenes this couple was madly in love and tied the knot in 2014.
Lana and Rusev
Rusev has always been a popular wrestler on the WWE roster, and he has often been accompanied by his manager Lana during his career. They have often been seen together, but it was never clear what their actual relationship was.
Then we all learned they were a real couple when they appeared together on ‘Total Divas.’ Lana and Rusev have been married since 2016. Rusev hails from Bulgaria, but Lana is actually from Florida, even though her character is from Russia.
CM Punk and Lita
Before CM Punk found love with AJ Lee, he dated Lita in 2009. The couple had a brief romance, but things didn’t work out. After a couple of relationships, they both found their way back to each other for another try in 2013, but once again, it was clearly not meant to be.
Despite their failed attempts at making their relationship work, it all seems to have worked out for the best. CM Punk became an iconic WWE superstar, while Lita was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014.
Vince and Linda McMahon
Vince McMahon has been the head of the WWE for decades, and his wife Linda has been there every step of the way. Vince is, quite simply, the most powerful man in the WWE. He calls the shots, and often nothing will be given the green light without his say so.
While Vince is the face, Linda has been running the show from behind the scenes. She might have been in front of the cameras from time to time, but it’s in the corporate world where Linda has shone the brightest.
Goldust and Terri Runnels
During Goldust’s early career in WCW, he met and fell in love with Terri Boatright, who would then be better known as Terri Runnels. The couple married in 1993, although they were never spotted on TV together in WCW.
When Goldust got his big break in the WWE in 1996 things changed, and they both appeared together in the ring. Goldust had his wife accompany him to the ring as Marlena, and eventually, it was revealed that they were married. However, in 1999 the pair divorced and went their separate ways.
John Moxley and Renee Young
When former WWE superstar John Moxley and commentator Renee Young first met, they both worked for the same company. Moxley was wrestling under the name Dean Ambrose in WWE, while Young was commentating and hosting backstage interviews.
They found love behind the scenes and married in 2017. Eventually, Ambrose left the WWE for greater creative control of his character. He debuted in AEW as John Moxley in 2019, and despite being on different schedules, the pair seems as happily married as they ever were.
Peyton Royce and Tye Dillinger
Current WWE superstar Peyton Royce found love when she bumped into then-fellow NXT star Tye Dillinger. The couple made no secret of their relationship, and have been more than happy to share their pictures on social media.
Dillinger made an impression in the WWE universe during his time there but called it quits with the major wrestling company in 2019. He now works for the rival wrestling organization AEW (All Elite Wrestling), and while they may have conflicting schedules, they are making it work.
John Cena and Nikki Bella
One of the biggest male WWE superstars teamed up with one of the biggest female wrestlers to create their very own super tag team. John Cena has won it all in the WWE and eventually outgrew the professional wrestling business to become an actor.
Nikki Bella is a multiple-time women’s champion in the WWE, and together they made a powerful couple. They were engaged and featured together in the wrestling reality TV show ‘Total Divas,’ before eventually ending their relationship in 2018.
Carmella and Big Cass
For several years WWE superstars Carmella and Big Cass were dating. Their relationship began while they were both working in NXT, with Carmella acting as a support act to Big Cass’s tag team with Enzo Amore.
When Cass and Amore were called up to the main roster, Carmella remained in NXT for several months and began to establish herself on her own. Eventually, Carmella was called up to the main roster too, and she shone even brighter. Carmella and Cass ended their relationship before Cass was cut from the WWE.
Edge and Lita
This is one of the most famous romantic storylines for one big reason. It was born from betrayal as Edge, a close friend of Matt Hardy’s, began a real-life affair with Lita. That ended the friendship between Edge and Hardy, but this was just the beginning for Edge and Lita.
They continued in their relationship even though the wrestling world knew all about how things were going backstage. WWE then shamelessly used all of that real tension from the relationship to build a storyline between Edge and Matt Hardy.
Steve Austin and Debra
During the late 1990s, there wasn’t a wrestler in the world as popular as Stone Cold Steve Austin. The wrestler had skills in the ring and an attitude out of it that fans simply couldn’t get enough of.
At times he was seen with the glamorous Debra by his side, and backstage the couple were in a long term relationship. They eventually married in 1998, but it ended in divorce in 2003 following domestic abuse allegations from Austin to his wife.
