Being in quarantine can be lonely and difficult. But luckily we have the internet, and it’s full of celebrities who are are doing their best to brighten our mood, share important information, and inspire us all to stay safe.

Ryan Reynolds

Ryan Reynolds is one of the most social media savvy celebs out there, and he never fails at making us laugh – even in tough times like these.

In this funny video he posted on Twitter, he simultaneously celebrated health care workers and people working in essential services, while also poking more than a little fun at celebrities. He also reminded everyone to practice social distancing and wash their hands frequently, to do their part in helping us all get through these difficult times together.

Emma Watson

On March 24th, actress Emma Watson shared this personal Instagram post, explaining why she chooses to stay at home. In the same post she also shared a few valuable tips on how everyone can help the people around them deal with the struggles of quarantine.

A few of her suggestions include donating to food banks, buying gift certificates to local business that are currently closed, and not hesitating to reach out for help if you’re struggling.

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez happily joined WHO’s hand washing challenge “Safe Hands”, after being nominated by Arianna Huffington. These hand washing videos spread awareness around how to correctly wash your hands – something Selena admits herself she didn’t know before.

As it turns out, proper hand washing should take around 20 seconds, and involves a lot more scrubbing in different ways than simply rubbing your hands together. Washing your hands according to WHO’s guidelines helps truly get rid of all those germs and viruses that spread from surfaces we touch.

Blake Lively

Blake Lively is just like her husband Ryan Reynolds not scared to laugh at herself – or her husband. The two often poke fun at each other publicly, and here Blake managed to take a jab at her hubby while also announcing some pretty great news.

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres was unusually somber while filming herself out for a brisk walk on March 24th. The beloved TV host has been posting several comedic clips of herself bored at home, calling other equally bored celebs. She also encouraged her followers to stay safe and pay attention to what “our smart people” are saying, to ensure life can go back to normal faster.

A post shared by Ed Helms (@edhelms) on

He dedicated the song to everyone out there doing things to help others, from doctors and nurses to delivery people and mail service employees – everyone who keeps societies functioning while most are stuck at home.

Jim Carrey

Ever the funny man Jim Carrey of curse decided to use his time of self-quarantine, to offer some comedic relief to the rest of us who are bored at home. He vowed to grow out his beard until everyone went back to their jobs and daily lives.

That’s a pretty serious promise if you ask us, since we might all be stuck in this mess for quite some time. It remains to be seen how long Jim Carrey’s beard can get.

Chris Martin

Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin joined the growing list of celebs who are basically giving us free, live concerts from their living rooms – and we are definitely not complaining about this trend.

With the caption #TogetherAtHome, Chris shared he was supposed to be playing with his bandmates on this very day, but they were all stuck in different countries. So he instead chose to go live on Instagram, check in on all his quarantined fans, and sing their favorite Coldplay songs during half an hour.

Robert De Niro

Not only our younger generation of celebrities are using their influence and large platforms to encourage everyone to practice social distancing, some of our older icons are doing their part too.

Robert De Niro shared this short but to the point video, firmly stating everyone needs to stay home to stop the spread of this virus, emphasizing we can only do it together. He also threw in one of his classic lines from Meet The Fockers, to end his serious message on a happier note.

Seth Rogen

Seth Rogen happily accepted the challenge passed down from Ryan Reynolds, to encourage fellow Canadians to “plank the curve”. Seth encouraged everyone to stay inside, wash their hands, and simply not leave their houses. He then rightfully pointed out there are a lot worse things people could be asked by their countries to do.

Seth also hilariously mentioned he was filming from his bunker which he had cleared out of all his hoarded toilet paper and Purell. Classic Rogen.

Sam Smith

Whenever there isn’t a virus spreading like wildfire across the world, it seems as if all people want is to have more time to chill at home. But now that most are confined to their homes 24/7, many can relate to Sam Smith’s funny Instagram post.

Stages of a quarantine meltdown

A post shared by Sam Smith (@samsmith) on

Captioning it “stages of a quarantine meltdown”, he shared a few pictures of himself sitting on what looks like his front porch, looking increasingly devastated. We get it Sam, we really do.

Kumail Nanjiani

Comedian and actor Kumail Nanjiani is here to remind us all of the importance of practicing social distancing, and remembering even if we feel completely healthy, we might carry the virus and unintentionally spread it to those around us if we fail to keep our distance.

Kumail’s reminder is an important one, as many are asymptomatic and have no idea they are carriers. In short, stay inside good folks, that’s the least we all can do!

Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman didn’t only participate in Gal Gadot’s singalong video, she also posted this simple yet powerful post on her Instagram. In it she stated who she is staying home for, and it’s not for herself.

Drawing attention to the fact certain groups of people are extra vulnerable to the possibly devastating effects of COVID-19, she explained she is staying home for her immunocompromised friends, her pregnant friends, and the millions of health care workers working tirelessly to save lives.

Devon Sawa

Without a single word in the caption, actor Devon Sawa pointed out the irony of the current situation – clearly trying to make people realize staying at home a lot is what most usually do.

Unfortunately far from everyone is adhering to the rules of social distancing and home quarantine, and Devon used his typical ironic sense of humor to point that out without telling his followers to wash their hands or flatten the curve. A pretty effective approach, if you ask us.

Danny DeVito

We don’t know about you, but when Danny DeVito goes on camera asking us to do something – we just want to immediately comply.

In his typical quirky, genuine way, this beloved actor encouraged his fellow citizens in the State of New York to stay home. Saying young people can get it too, and unknowingly infect older people – he even made a joke about himself possibly catching it and potentially shuffle off this mortal coil. Now that’s no joking matter, so we hope everyone listens.

Brandon Flowers

Because of the fast spread of COVID-19, the CDC and WHO are encouraging everyone to be much more diligent about their hand washing. And there are many tricks you can use to make sure you’re really washing them for the required 20 seconds.

The Killer’s lead singer Brandon Flowers shared a clip of himself washing his hands while belting out the catchy chorus to their 2003 hit Mr. Brightside, and it’s so awesome we think it might become a new trend.

Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes took to Twitter to share a short but sweet message to all of his fans, encouraging them to take care of themselves and each other, and sending them his love.

The Canadian singer-songwriter has also announced all donations through his foundation, The Shawn Mendes Foundation, will for the month of March go to Sick Kids Hospital, a children’s hospital in Toronto, Canada, as well as relief efforts around the world organized by The World Health Organization.

Armie Hammer

Actor Armie Hammer too decided to approach this whole home quarantine thing with a healthy dose of humor, and took to Twitter to ask his fans a very important question. He is debating growing some facial hair while staying home, and need some help choosing a name for his soon to be goatee.

So far his funny tweet has over 11.000 likes and close to 1000 amusing responses. One person going by the Twitter handle @shlippittydop suggested he should just call it a mistake. Fair enough.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Portuguese soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo had a really important message to share from his home gym on March 22nd: play inside, and play for the world.

Telling everyone who has ever dreamed of playing for the whole world, he stated this is your chance to actually do something that is helping the entire world. Giving the camera thumbs up and smiling despite being in the middle of what looks like an insanely difficult leg workout, is giving us all the motivation we need!

Cat Cora

This one is a real tear jerker, so you have been warned! Professional chef Catherine Cora shared a heartbreaking video on Twitter, stating her immunocompromised sons have been exposed to COVID-19 after staying with a family member who is confirmed to have it.

Cat was visibly emotional in this video, and is clearly fighting to hold back tears while encouraging everyone to stay safe, stay home, and keep her and her family in their prayers.

Bob Sinclair

French DJ Bob Sinclair (or Christophe Le Friant, as his real name is) is not a man of many words, and seems to embrace the saying “a picture is worth a thousand words”.

But on a closer look, this isn’t just any old step by step hand washing tutorial. Bob and his friend Mercer have added the lyrics to Bob’s hit I Feel For You, making sure everyone can get their groove on also while washing their hands. Clever move, fellas.

Prince Charles

No one is safe from the spread of this virus, and it can affect both young and old. Most recently, news broke even Prince Charles of the Royal Family has been confirmed to have the it.

Prince Charles

Since the Prince of Wales is 71 years old, he is in the age group considered at greater risk of developing complications, but Clarence House released a reassuring statement saying Prince Charles have only mild symptoms and is in self-isolation, resting at home in Wales.

Kylie Jenner

If you feel like staying at home for possibly weeks or months on end will be impossible, Kylie Jenner is here to offer some reassuring encouragement on the matter.

Kylie Jenner

On March 18th Kylie shared on her Instagram stories she was already on day eight of self-quarantining with daughter Stormi, and said her pregnancy helped prepare her for this. Despite being one of the most famous women in the world, Kylie managed to keep her pregnancy a secret for impressively long, simply by staying home. If she can do it, so can we all!

Madelaine Petsch

There is nothing better than celebs making fun of themselves, and showing the rest of us they’re not perfect either. So Madelaine Petsch’s quarantine post was refreshingly different in the sea of serious celeb videos going viral.

Hilariously stating she is “really exposing herself here”, she confessed she wanted to use her time of quarantine to really learn how to wink. Clearly she has a way to go still, and we can’t wait for an update a few weeks down the line.

Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell is one of our most down-to-earth, refreshingly honest celebrities – and being in home-quarantine has definitely not made her change. She shared this hilarious little clip, which most parents stuck at home with their kids probably can relate to.

Dont be ashamed. We are all gonna do it. Reposted from @upworthy

A post shared by kristen bell (@kristenanniebell) on

Simply captioning her post “don’t be ashamed, we are all gonna do it”, we have a feeling Kristen too spends many of her days at home counting to ten to not start yelling at the kids. We feel ya, Kristen.

Gal Gadot and friends

Actress Gal Gadot used some of her time stuck at home to organize a celeb singalong to John Lennon’s imagine. Her and over twenty of her famous friends, including Natalie Portman and Will Ferrell, all pitched in filming themselves singing one line each.

Although the singing abilities varied, the joint effort touched many around the globe. Others thought it was a cringeworthy and tone deaf show of privilege, as most celeb homes are spacious mansions with massive lawns and swimming pools.
